The Opera Singer

American tenor Colenton Freeman was born in Atlanta, GA. He made his official operatic debut with the San Francisco Opera in 1981 where he sang the role of Aegisthus in John Eaton's THE CRY OF CLYTEMNESTRA. In 1983 he made his European debut at the Hamburg State Opera in the role of Don José in CARMEN. Subsequent debuts were at the Santa Fe Opera, Bellas Arftes in Mexico City, Carnegie Hall in New York and the Glyndebourne Opera Festival.
In 1987 Freeman became a member of the Stadttheater Gießen in Germany where he sang leading tenor roles in operas such as La Boheme, Ernani, Un ballo in maschera, Faust, Martha and L'elisir d'amore. Guest performances throughout Europe include the Welsh National Opera, Geneva Opera, Bonn Opera, Hannover Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, Opéra Lyon, Theater des Westens in Berlin and the Bregenz Festival.
